MeetingTimer is a free tool with no user accounts, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. It sets no cookies for visitors. We collect only a minimal amount of privacy-friendly usage data on our own server, described below, to understand how the tool is used.
The app uses your browser's localStorage to remember your current agenda, timer state, theme, sound preference, and an optional analytics opt-out flag. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
If you choose to save an agenda, its contents are stored on our server under a random ID so you can restore or share it via a link. Saved agendas are automatically deleted after one year. Sharing a view-only link instead encodes the agenda directly into the URL and stores nothing on our server.
We run our own cookieless analytics on our server (no Google Analytics, no third parties). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
What we record for each event: the event type (e.g. a page view or a timer start), the page path (never the query string), a coarse device class (mobile or desktop), your browser's primary language, the external website you arrived from (hostname only), and a sharing-mode flag. Agenda titles and other text you type are never recorded.
What we do not do: we set no cookies, we use no persistent identifiers, and we never store your IP address. To count unique visitors, your IP address and user agent are combined in memory with a secret value that changes every day; only the resulting hash is stored. That daily secret is deleted shortly afterwards, after which the day's hashes can no longer be associated with any IP address, and because the secret differs each day the hashes cannot be linked across days.
Analytics data never leaves our server, is not shared with anyone, and is deleted after 13 months.
A single strictly-functional session cookie (mt_dash) is set only when the site operator logs into the internal statistics dashboard. Regular visitors never receive this cookie.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection regarding your personal data. Because our analytics stores no identifiers, we are generally unable to link data to an individual. For any request, please contact us via the details in our imprint.
